South Pattaya is convenient for Walking Street, Bali Hai Pier and trips towards Pratumnak and Jomtien. The distances still matter: Regency South estimates Walking Street at about 1.5 km and Bali Hai at about 2.2 km from the hotel.
This guide covers the nearby outings and when to arrange a ride, rather than assuming everything is beside the hotel.
The short version
- South Pattaya is convenient for Walking Street and Bali Hai.
- Regency South is about 1.5 km from Walking Street and 2.2 km from the pier.
- Koh Larn needs a boat crossing and a confirmed return plan.
- Pratumnak and Jomtien involve additional journeys.
- Check room position if noise matters.
What’s nearby
Walking Street and Bali Hai are the main reasons to consider this end of Pattaya. You can combine a night out with a separate day trip to Koh Larn without travelling from the north each time.
Choose the hotel and room carefully if noise matters to you. Nightlife is concentrated in particular streets; being in South Pattaya doesn’t tell you how an individual bedroom will sound. Ask about room position.
Good to know
- Walking Street and Bali Hai in the south
- Check the hotel-to-destination distance
- Ask about room position if noise matters
Walking Street and evening outings
Walking Street is an adult-nightlife area with bars, restaurants and live entertainment. Decide whether that’s the evening you want, and arrange the journey back before setting out.
Beach Road is another option for an evening walk. For a cabaret performance, check the actual venue, show time and transport; not all shows are at the south end.
Good to know
- Adult nightlife around Walking Street
- Check show locations separately
- Plan the return to the hotel
Bali Hai Pier and Koh Larn
Koh Larn boats leave from Bali Hai Pier. TAT describes a ferry crossing of roughly forty-five minutes, with boarding and transfers to add. Confirm the landing pier, fare and return arrangements for your service.
Regency South’s estimate is about thirty minutes on foot to Bali Hai. A ride may be more suitable with children, in bad weather or for an early departure. The Koh Larn guide covers the island part of the day.
Good to know
- Boats leave from Bali Hai
- Confirm the landing and return piers
- Allow for the journey from the hotel
Pratumnak Hill
Pratumnak sits between South Pattaya and Jomtien. Wat Phra Yai, the gilded Big Buddha, is the climb. The viewpoint is the reason to time it for the last hour of light: the bay and Koh Larn sit in front of you.
Kasetsin Road has restaurants including The Sky Gallery, The Chocolate Factory and 3 Mermaids. If you want a sunset table, check reservations, the menu and the time of sunset before travelling.
Good to know
- Viewpoint at last light
- Cliff tables on Kasetsin Road
Jomtien and an indoor alternative
Jomtien is another beach area to visit from South Pattaya. Allow for a road journey and check the swimming conditions and marked areas when you arrive. The district name alone doesn’t establish water quality or safety.
Underwater World on Sukhumvit Road is an indoor alternative to consider. Check current admission and opening hours, and include the journey there when planning the day.
Good to know
- Allow for a ride to Jomtien
- Assess beach conditions on the day
- Check admission before an indoor outing
Thepprasit Night Market
Thepprasit Night Market is an option for food and shopping; check its current opening days before making the journey. Jomtien also has evening markets you can combine with a visit to that area.
Central Pattaya on Beach Road has shops, dining and a cinema. It can suit a wet-weather afternoon, with a ride from Regency South rather than a short walk from the door.
Good to know
- Check market opening days
- Central Pattaya for shops, dining and cinema
Choosing between North and South Pattaya
Regency South has a pool, restaurant, parking and a tour desk. Ask what help is available with your chosen outing rather than assuming a boat ticket or transfer is included.
The North Pattaya hotels share a different complex, about 1.2 km from Terminal 21 according to property information. Compare them if that location fits more of your plans. Our North or South comparison covers the room and location differences.
Good to know
- Regency South: closer to Walking Street and Bali Hai
- North hotels: a shared North Pattaya complex
- Check the room as well as the location
Planning your visit
- Getting around the south end
- Songthaews run along Beach Road and Second Road. Grab is the easier hop to Pratumnak, Jomtien and Thepprasit. Walking Street to Bali Hai is on foot once the strip is closed to cars.
- From Bangkok
- About two hours by road, longer on a Friday evening or a public holiday. Arrive before dusk if you can. U-Tapao is around 34 km if you are flying in.
- Confirm the boat back
- Check the return pier and departure on the day, leaving time to reach the pier and board.
For a stay centred on these outings, compare Regency South’s rooms. If most of your plans are farther north, the North Pattaya guide covers that area.
