Arawana Regency South Pattaya is a 4-star hotel at the busier end of the bay, about 2.7 km from Pattaya Beach. South Pattaya is the loud end, which is the reason to stay here: the nightlife, the markets and the restaurants are close enough to walk back from.
U-Tapao is around 34 km away. From Bangkok the road is usually about two hours, longer on a Friday evening or a holiday weekend, so arrive outside the exodus if you can.

Central Festival Pattaya Beach
A large beachfront shopping mall on Beach Road with hundreds of stores, restaurants and a cinema overlooking the Gulf of Thailand, the Hilton stacked above.
About 1.5 to 2.5 km north: an easy songthaew ride, or a pleasant walk once the sun is down.
Underwater World Pattaya
A walk-through tunnel and tanks of sharks, rays and tropical fish, out on Sukhumvit Road. A good hour out of the heat.
2 to 3 km away, a few minutes by taxi or songthaew.
Walking Street
Pattaya's best-known strip, running off the south end of Beach Road: bars, clubs, live music and seafood restaurants, all of it loud. Easy walking distance is rather the point of staying at this end.

Bali Hai Pier
The main pier at the southern tip of Walking Street, where ferries and speedboats leave for Koh Larn and the islands beyond. An evening market sets up alongside it.
Ten minutes on foot.
Pattaya Viewpoint (Pratamnak Hill)
A hilltop lookout between South Pattaya and Jomtien, with the whole bay and the city sign laid out below. Best in the last hour of light.
Around 2 km away by taxi or songthaew.
The Glass House
A beachfront restaurant on Soi Na Jomtien 10, glass walls and the bay in front of you. Thai cooking and seafood, open 11:00 to midnight.
Just south of Jomtien, a few minutes away.
