Bangkok still has real cutters. They are quieter than the 24-hour windows on Sukhumvit. They will name the mill, they will walk you to a cutting table, and they will not promise a wardrobe before checkout.
Guests ask the desk for a tailor more often than for a spa. The honest answer is not a ranked list of every shop between Nana and Thong Lo. It is a way to tell a workshop from a showroom, two ateliers on Rama 4 that actually cut in the rooms you are standing in (one for men, one for women), and a week that fits around a stay on Sukhumvit 22.
This is that briefing: what the 24-hour promise skips, what to ask before you pay a deposit, how a first visit actually runs, and when to order a shirt instead of a jacket.
The short version
- Ignore 24-hour suit deals. A fused jacket is glue. A real jacket needs a pattern, a fitting, and days.
- Ask for the mill by name, canvassed construction, and an in-house cutting table. Get the quote before they cut.
- Men go to ENDEL Tailor. Women go to LALEDA, a women-only house since 1989. Same block of Rama 4, two crafts.
- A typical ENDEL suit takes two to three weeks. Most LALEDA dresses and suits take one to two weeks and two visits.
- Stay at Arawana Regency Park Sukhumvit so the second visit is a short hop. Four nights is a shirt, not a jacket.

Why the 24-hour window is not a tailor
The shops with a mannequin on the pavement and a 'suit in 24 hours' board are selling speed, not construction. A jacket that is fused overnight is glued: a layer of foam between the cloth and the lining. It looks sharp in the shop lights. In the first rain, or after a few trips through a hotel iron, the chest bubbles and the lapel will not roll. You cannot un-glue it.
A canvassed jacket is a different object. Horsehair and linen sit between the cloth and the lining, pad-stitched by hand or machine, so the chest takes your shape over months rather than collapsing after a week. That needs a pattern for one body, a fitting, and days for the cloth to settle. A simple dress can be quicker. A canvas jacket cannot.
Tuk-tuk commissions make this worse. A driver who 'knows a great tailor' is usually paid to deliver you to a showroom. The cutting, if it happens at all, is often in a different building, or in a different province. If they will not walk you ten metres to a table with shears on it, you are in a shop, not a workshop. Keep walking.
Good to know
- A 24-hour promise usually means fused, not canvassed
- Bubbling on the chest is glue failing, not 'the climate'
- A commission ride is a sales funnel, not a recommendation
- If you cannot see the cutting table, leave
What to ask before you pay a deposit
Three questions sort a real house from a window. Whose mill is the cloth: Vitale Barberis Canonico, Dormeuil, Zegna, Holland & Sherry, a named Thai mill, not 'Italian wool' as a vibe. Is the jacket canvassed or fused, and will they show you a cutaway of both. And is the garment cut and sewn in the rooms you are standing in, by people who will still be there for the fitting.
Men and women are not one fitting. A men's jacket is canvas, shoulder and balance. A dress, a women's suit or a gown is darting, bust and hip. A house that specialises should say so, without being pushed. Couples are better at two specialists on the same morning than at one shop that 'does everyone' on a shared block pattern.
Get the quote in writing before anything is cut. Price moves with cloth and construction, not with how much they think you will pay. A two-piece at a proper house in this neighbourhood starts in the low teens of thousands of baht for technical cloth and climbs with mill and canvas. If the number is magically the same for every fabric on the wall, you are buying a package, not a garment.
Good to know
- Ask for the mill by name, not the country
- Ask to see canvas versus fused, on a real jacket
- Ask who cuts, and where, this week
- A written quote before the shears come out
ENDEL Tailor sits on Rama 4 near Sukhumvit 24, a short walk from Sukhumvit 22. It is a men's house, spun out of the women's atelier next door: pattern, half-canvas as standard, full-canvas if you want the long game, cut and sewn on site. The cloth library is named mills (Vitale Barberis Canonico, Dormeuil, Zegna, Loro Piana, Holland & Sherry among them), not a wall of anonymous bolts.
A first visit is measurements, cloth and a conversation about how you actually wear a jacket in this heat. Two-piece suits start from 13,500 baht in technical cloth, 17,500 baht in imported 100% wool, 15,500 baht in European linen. Full-canvas in the luxury mills starts much higher. Their own card says a typical suit takes two to three weeks from measure to fitting, with rush only if they can truly do it. If you have four nights, order a shirt, or wait until you can come back.
They work by appointment, Monday to Saturday, 10:30am to 4:30pm. Call +66 80 070 6180 or message before you walk over. Bring the shoes you will wear with the suit, and a jacket that already fits if you have one. They will tell you, without theatre, whether the week you have is enough.

LALEDA Tailor & Dressmaker is on the same block of Rama 4, a different craft. It has been a women-only atelier since 1989: dresses, women's suits, wedding gowns, alterations. The patterns are drafted for women, in-house, and kept on file so a second piece starts from a pattern that already fits. Bring your own cloth if you want, or choose from theirs.
A first visit is 30 to 45 minutes: design, cloth, measurements. The first fitting is usually three to five days later. Pickup is about a week after that, so most dresses and suits take one to two weeks and two visits. Wedding gowns take longer and start from 25,000 baht. Day dresses start from 4,500 baht, a women's two-piece from 13,200 baht, alterations from 500 baht a detail. They quote before they cut.
Book with Ms. Fon on +66 92 264 9544. Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm, last appointment 4:30pm. Bring one or two reference photos and the shoes you will wear with the garment. If you are travelling with someone who needs a suit, he can be next door at ENDEL the same morning.

How a fitting week actually runs
Do not land and wander in. Message both houses with what you want, your dates, and a photo if you have one. A dedicated slot means they are not fitting someone else while you choose cloth. The first visit is the long one. The second is pins, sleeve length, waist. If only small changes are needed, LALEDA will sometimes send you home with the piece the same afternoon.
What to bring: the shoes that belong with the garment, a belt if trousers are involved, and one jacket or dress that already fits so they can see how you like things to sit. Leave the Pinterest board at five images, not fifty. Say how you will wear it: a Bangkok wedding, an office in winter, a linen jacket that has to survive the walk to the BTS.
If you only have a long weekend, be honest with them. A canvassed jacket will not be ready. A shirt, a blouse, a hem, or an alteration on something you already own is a better use of four nights. A proper suit at ENDEL wants two to three weeks. A LALEDA dress or women's suit wants a week or two. Stay at Arawana Regency Park Sukhumvit so the second visit is a short hop down the soi, not a crossing of the city in traffic.
Good to know
- Book before you land; first visit 30-45 minutes
- Bring the shoes you will wear with the piece
- Four nights: shirts and alterations, not a jacket
- Stay at Regency Park on Sukhumvit 22
Ways to string it together
Long weekend: shirts and hems
Four nights is not a suit. Use it for something that can actually be ready.
- Before you fly: message both houses with dates and a photo of what you want.
- Day 1, late morning: hop down Sukhumvit 22 from Regency Park to Rama 4. Shirts at ENDEL, a blouse or an alteration at LALEDA.
- Day 3 or 4: fitting and pickup if they said yes. If not, they will ship or you collect on a later trip.
- Leave the canvassed jacket for a stay that has two to three weeks in it.
A proper week for one garment
The timeline both houses actually work to.
- Before you land: book the first slot. Cloth and design are faster in the room if they already know the brief.
- Day 1: first visit, 30 to 45 minutes. Measurements, mill, quote, deposit.
- Day 4 to 6: first fitting (LALEDA is often 3-5 days out). Pins, sleeve, waist.
- End of the week, or early the next: pickup. ENDEL suits more often want the second and third week. Do not squeeze it.
Couples, same morning
Two crafts, one block, no shared pattern book.
- Book ENDEL and LALEDA on the same morning, an hour apart, so neither of you is waiting in a corridor.
- He is next door for canvas and shoulder. She is in the women-only rooms for darting and drape.
- Back to Regency Park for lunch. Second fittings later in the stay, same hop down the soi.
Planning your visit
- Book before you land
- Both ateliers work by appointment. Message ENDEL or LALEDA with what you want and your dates. A first visit is 30 to 45 minutes. They are closed on Sundays.
- Give it the week it needs
- ENDEL's own card puts a typical men's suit at two to three weeks, measure to fitting. LALEDA dresses and suits usually take one to two weeks, with a first fitting after three to five days. Wedding gowns need more. If you only have a long weekend, order a shirt or an alteration.
- Stay close to the fittings
- The ateliers sit on Rama 4 near Sukhumvit 24. Arawana Regency Park Sukhumvit is the stay: 4-star, on Sukhumvit 22 by Benjasiri Park and BTS Phrom Phong, a short hop down the soi to Rama 4. That is the right base for a week of fittings.
- What to bring
- The shoes that belong with the garment, a belt for trousers, one or two reference photos, and a jacket or dress that already fits if you have one. Say how you will wear the piece. They would rather hear 'office in Singapore' than 'make it nice'.
- Quotes, not haggling
- Both houses publish starting prices and quote the full number before they cut. Cloth and construction move the price, not a performance at the counter. LALEDA will work with cloth you bring; they can also point you to fabric shops if you want to hunt first.
For men, ENDEL Tailor. For women, LALEDA Tailor & Dressmaker. Same stretch of Rama 4, two crafts, both in-house. Ask for the mill, ask to see the table, and give the cloth the days it needs. If you are coming for fittings, stay at Arawana Regency Park Sukhumvit. They are also on our experiences page.
